Choosing English literature is a sensible option since <\/span><b>it&#8217;s closely related to one of the compulsory subjects<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, making it potentially easier.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">GCSE literature is an <\/span><b>exhilarating subject<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that familiarises you with works of literary giants in different literary periods.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Studying literature develops<\/span><b> critical thinking and analytical skills<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. These skills are essential if you want to study <\/span><b>Journalism, History, Law, Media Studies, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <\/span><b>Religious Studies<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in Higher Education. Naturally, if you aim to have a career in these fields, you also need to retake English Literature.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Literature is <\/span><b>not a core subject <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">according to the Department of Education, but some colleges and sixth forms demand a pass in GCSE English Literature.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"7_Consider_GCSE_Alternatives\"><\/span><b>7. Of course, <\/span><b>there is no limit regarding how many times you can retake GCSE English literature<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. You can retake it as many times as it takes to achieve your desired results.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One alternative is <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalnumeracy.org.uk\/what-numeracy\/functional-skills\"><b>Functional Skills Qualification<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. In order to retake Literature GCSE, you should take the following steps:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Discuss your intention with your school<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: They might support your retake, or at least they can give you guidelines on the requirements of the exam board you&#8217;re registered with. If you aim to retake the exam with a different exam board, you should see if it&#8217;s OK with your school policy.
