For example, they might think a small argument with a friend means their friendship is over.\u00a0 To alleviate these negative thoughts, they might<\/span><b> seek constant reassurance<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from you, their siblings, and even their teachers that everything will be fine.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ironically, most of these worries are only in the child\u2019s imagination and are not likely to happen. In fact, the findings of a study by researchers at Penn State University show that a significant percentage of our worries do not materialise, at least in the short run.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A whopping <\/span><\/i><b><i>91 percent<\/i><\/b><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of worries were false alarms. And of the remaining 9 percent of worries that did come true, the outcome was better than expected about a third of the time.
