The covenant was passed to Abraham&#8217;s son <\/span><b>Issac<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, his son <\/span><b>Jacob<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and his twelve sons, who founded the 12 Jewish tribes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Moses <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">was also a pivotal figure in Judaism. He led the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt and received the <\/span><b>Torah <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">on <\/span><b>Mount Sinai<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Torah is the first of five books of the <\/span><b>Hebrew Bible<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and contains the laws and teachings of Judaism.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Jewish_Beliefs_and_Teachings\"><\/span><b>Jewish Beliefs and Teachings<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The pillar of Judaism is the concept of one God. God is unique (monotheism), omnipotent (all-powerful), omnipresent (everywhere), omniscient (all-knowing), and omnibenevolent (all-loving), and he is the just lawgiver.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jewish people follow the teachings of the Torah, which is considered the foundational text of Judaism. <\/span><b>They believe that the more they adhere to these teachings, the closer they become to God<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. That is, God judges the followers based on their observance of Jewish teachings.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Life_After_Death\"><\/span><b>Life After Death<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Orthodox Jews also believe in the <\/span><b>afterlife <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Olam Ha Ba) as a time of reward and punishment for their deeds. However, this is not a core belief in Reform and Constructionist Judaism. Generally, Judaism emphasises living a good life rather than what will happen after death. Additionally, Orthodox Jews believe in the <\/span><b>resurrection <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of the righteous in the <\/span><b>Messianic Age<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to live in a perfect world under God&#8217;s rule.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Free will is also one of the core teachings in Judaism. Many Jews believe that the world existed because God created heaven and earth.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, the strictness of observing the laws of Judaism is not the same in different branches of Judaism. Jewish people can identify as any of the following branches and follow the rules based on their community principles.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Orthodox Jews: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The followers are the most traditional Jewish people who are strictly observant of the Jewish law (Halacha).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Reform Jews: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They started a new branch of Judaism in the early 19th century in Germany. They might observe traditional practices, but they emphasise personal choices.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Conservative Jews: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Conservative Judaism also dates back to the 19th century. It was established as a reaction to Orthodoxy&#8217;s strictness and Reform Judaism&#8217;s liberty.
